Respite Care

ICRC offers a wide range of services to family and informal caregivers of adults with brain impairing conditions or those caring for frail, older adults.  To be eligible for services the family caregiver must be a resident of Riverside, San Bernardino, Inyo or Mono Counties.  We also provide information, referral and educational services to caring professionals.

Specific services of ICRC may have additional requirements.  Most services are provided at no charge.

Respite is designed to break for the family member most responsible for care.  A break from constant care can help renew energy, maintain health.  Respite is provided for brief periods of time so the caregiver may receive relief and rest. ICRC pays for the costs of respite.  In some case families may make or donation or be asked to pay a very reasonable share of cost for this care.  Eligible families receive respite care amounting to between $1,200 to $3,600.00 over a number of months (depending on funding source).

This service may be provided in the individual's home, or in an out-of-home setting such as a day care center or in an assisted living facility or even a skilled nursing facility.  In-home care can be arranged through home care agencies who will provide qualified companions or certified nurses aides to care for your loved one while you get a break.  Normally there is a four hour minimum for care in the home.

Respite in Assisted Living Facilities ( or Board and Care Facilities) and Skilled Nursing Facilities can also be arranged for weekend stays or longer.
